I'm using a pretty old version of Fl Studio. 7 to be exact. Producer edition, certainly nothing fancy. I downloaded this program back in 2006 right before graduating high school. I have been using the same old Dell PC that I was given that same year.
/insert life story here (sorry)
I've been listening to glitch hop and going to shows and festivals since 2007. I was listening to dubstep & glitch hop while dreaming of being on the playa at Burning Man since then as well. That year I was consumed by the underground psychedelic bass scene of NYC. Frequenting Alex Grey's CoSM events and the early Sub Swara / Freek Factory events, like the Church parties at Love.
Truly inspired by the level of creativity I had been introduced to, in 2008 I bought a Macbook Pro and got Logic & Reason. I started DJing Glitch Hop and Dubstep locally on an affordable Vestax Controller using Tracktor LE. Deep breaths & baby steps, my mother likes to say.
Well it was fun learning new things. I was just beginning to learn my new sofware. Learning my way around my new toys.
Too bad I only had my Macbook for about a year. A couple St. Patty's Days ago, a partygoer spilled his drink all over it during a set
Well I'm back to my Dell from 2005 and my copy of Fl Studio from 2006.
One day I will have money and get my Macbook up and running again. And by then, I will also have the funds to purchase Ableton!
For now, I must continue to do what I can with what I've got. Right now I am trying to take it all in. I'm not going to watch Youtube tutorials on how to copy someones screen and sound like Skrillex. No way. I am here to learn what the fuck I am doing. I have been messing around for fun in FL studio for 6 years now, but I am really only at the beginning of my musical journey. I am finally ready to start digging deep.
I have a great taste in music. I know what sounds good. I have made a slew of beats that sound good. Not really professional but good. Now it's time for me to get real with it and truly understand what I am doing and how I need to do it. I am a student, and I am here to learn. I am new to this forum. I visited here in the past but now I am ready. I am here to find my sound. I am ready to geek the fuck out!
